Sumo Gnomes

Play Through: Sumo Gnomes

They say good things come in small packages and in the case of Sumo Gnomes, they aren’t wrong. From the minds behind the area control game, Summoners Isle, comes a new pocket-sized pass time that sees gnome vs gnome as they fight for control of the forest floor.

In Sumo Gnomes you play as…well…a sumo gnome, who is wrestling to eject their opponent from the tree stump arena.

Using custom dice to move, push, spin and trick you way around the stump, players will need to use every trick in the book to push their opponent off the forest stump in order to claim victory.

Having been a fan of Peculalrity for a while now (after backing their previous release, Summoners Isle on Kickstarter), I had to pop by their stand at UK Games Expo this year. We were lucky enough to get a crash course in Sumo Gnomes from the creator, Robbie Munn and it did not disappoint.

The game is quick and easy to set up and comes with very few rules. It’s great for whipping out in the pub, on holiday or even when you have a few minutes spare at home with friends.

Sumo Gnomes is a 2-player game, with each fight lasting anywhere between 1-5 minutes. It’s not available on Kickstarter yet, but we’re told it’s coming soon. We’ll make sure to keep you posted on that.

In the meantime, check out the video above, where Robbie shows you exactly how to play the miniature battle royale.
