Bramall Music Building will be alive with the sound of harps on Saturday 21 January when it becomes the venue for Birmingham Harp Day. Organised by Birmingham Conservatoire, this one-day event offers something for everyone, from the beginner to seasoned professionals and spectators who just want to soak up the sound of this beautiful instrument. International celebrity harpist Sylvain Blassel leads an evening concert of music by Liszt, while Australian jazz harpist and singer Tara Minton and bassist Ed Babar perform works from Tara’s new jazz, folk and soul-infused album ‘The Tides of Love’. Throughout the day there are sessions of youth and adult ensembles, public masterclasses, workshops and performances, informal concerts in the Café, a host of exhibitors, and an opportunity for harpists and non-harpists alike to try out instruments in the Highly Strung Harp Zoo.
