As street food continues to take the UK by storm with a never ending spectrum of strange and delicious foods, this weekend sees the launch of the Summer Market in Digbeth.
Off the back of the rather successful Spring Market which saw over 1,500 visitors tuck into a range of street foods, craft ale and cocktails, this weekend’s event is set to be even more appetising.
Over fifty of the country’s most innovative traders have been carefully handpicked by organisers, The Bournville Waffle Company and placed in three main areas of the market; the arts market, food producers and street food market and bar.
Highlights from this year’s menu include Buddha Belly, run by Sai Deethwa, a thai food vendor and contestant on BBC’s Masterchef 2012. Other delicacies include vegetarian and gluten-free Becky’s Bhajis; gourmet toasties from The Jabberwocky; wood-fired pizzas from Fire and Slice; Burritos from The Mexican Bean; sweet treats from The Bournville Waffle Company. Serving the meat-eaters will be Birmingham burger company The Meat Shack, and Oxford’s Ross and Ross Food, who will be slow-roasting a shoulder of Cotswold lamb.
With live entertainment from DJ Sam Bayliss of Birmingham band Troumaca and various demos from traders throughout the day, we’re sure there will be lots of bursting bellies after.
The Summer Market takes place on Saturday 2nd August from 12pm – 7pm at The Bond, Fazeley Street, Digbeth. Entrance costs £1.50 for adults and kids get in free.
