Birmingham’s oldest haunt is getting into the spirit of things this October as The Old Crown in Digbeth hosts a special Halloween party.

Built in 1368 The Old Crown is grade II listed and the oldest building still standing in Birmingham. With a chequered past, staff and regulars are convinced the pub is haunted.

After capturing footage of the ghost in action in the bar last year staff and customers continue to be spooked by the presence in the pub. Many staff have left due to these eerie encounters at night, owner, Ciaran Healy, says it can prove difficult finding staff to work there. The pub is rumoured to have two resident ghosts one of them which haunts the 30ft well in the pub.

Inspired by the pubs ghostly activity and to mark the recent release of the new ‘Blair Witch Project’ the pub is holding a special Halloween Party where guests can immerse themselves in a spooky forest full of devourable decor. The pub will be hosting a free Halloween Party on the 29th October. Fancy dress is heavily encouraged and there will be prizes for the best dressed.

On the eve of Halloween the pub will team up with Yelp Birmingham for a Halloween dining experience like no other. Titled ‘The Bloodfeast’, this three course meal of the pub favourites dishes will be delivered with a Halloween twist, which might just leave some people running for the door! Admission is free, follow the link and sign up to Yelp to be in with a chance of taking a seat at the feast.
