How to write horror for D&D

With the Halloween season upon us, many DMs will be inspired to run horror one-shots or campaigns for their groups, but you’ll need more than candles and a good soundtrack to set the mood.

Horror settings are a different breed to your standard high-fantasy D&D setting, and as such a few extra considerations need to be taken.

In a new ‘How to…’ video, the fantastic Kelsey Dionne from The Arcane Library delves into the three core pillars required for writing and DMing a horror campaign; suspense, powerlessness and mystery.

If you don’t fancy creating your own spooky one-shot, you can download The Night Hunter horror adventure for free from the description of Kelsey’s video.
