As the countdown continues to UK Games Expo, those with more of a competitive nature are gearing up for the Catan UK Championship Qualifying event on Friday 31 May.
The tournament is the final opportunity to qualify for the Catan UK Championship, which will take place on 1-2 June, 2019.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Catan, players assume the roles of settlers, who are each attempting to build and develop holdings while acquiring and trading resources. Gaining points as their settlements grow, the first player to reach 10 points wins.
If you’ve got some experience with the game, then the UK Championships could be for you. The qualifier consists of three rounds of games, each with four players. After three rounds, players are ranked in order of most games won, then by most victory points scored and points percentage.
The highest ranked players from the qualifier will go on to the UK Championship Quarterfinals on 1 June, 2019, with the top 16 players then moving onto the semi-finals on 2 June, 2019. The winner of the UK Catan National Championship will be sent on to the Catan European Championships and 2020 World Championships.
