Image promotes safe sex after Vertigo’s demise Chris Brown June 25, 2019 Comic Books Following the news that DC Vertigo is shutting down its operation, Image Comics has swooped in and picked up a brand new title, SFSX: Safe Sex. The brainchild of notorious kink writer Tina Horn (Why Are People Into That?! podcast host) and fan-favorite artist Michael Dowling (Unfollow, Death Sentence) SFSX: Safe Sex is a social thriller about sex, love, and torture, due to release this September. Set in a draconian America where sexuality is bureaucratized and policed, readers meet a group of queer sex workers keeping the magic alive in an underground club called the Dirty Mind. Using their unique bondage skills, they resolve to infiltrate the mysterious government Pleasure Center, free their friends, and fight the power. SFSX was originally announced back in June 2018 as part of a relaunch for Vertigo, however, with news hitting the headlines this month that Vertigo was closing down, much to the distress of millions of fans, SFSX never made it to the streets. Enter Image Comics, who picked it up and dusted it off before announcing that SFSX will, in fact, be released in September 2019. If you’re unfamiliar with Vertigo, it’s an imprint of DC Comics and was created in 1993 to publish stories with more of a graphic or adult take on content. With titles such as Bitch Planet, Saga, and my all-time favorite series, The Wicked + The Divine on their books, I’ve no doubt that SFSX will be right at home at Image. SFSX hits stores on 25 September, 2019. For more information on this and other titles from Image Comics visit www.imagecomics.com. For more from us on the latest comic releases, click here.
