Preparing for battle as wargaming expo, Chillcon returns to Derby

Wargaming expo, Chillcon is returning to Derby this September, bringing with it more than 40 traders and some of the industries top gaming manufacturers.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday 22 September at Allestree Woodland School in Derby and features traders, games, a bring & buy, painting competition and hobby clinic.

Highlights (from our point of view) include ABC Brushers, a staple for any miniature painter; Atlantis Miniatures, the creators of the new Fighting Fantasy miniatures; Lasercut Architect, for all your scenery needs; and Mantic Games, the masterminds behind battle fantasy wargame, Kings of War.

Playable games at the expo include Burrows and Badgers – Stand & Deliver, Clash of the Gods, A Song of Ice & Fire, Discworld Witch Racing and many more.

With the show running from 10am – 4pm, visitors are of course going to get peckish. Organisers have you covered there with a local caterer on hand as well as a medieval tavern offering ale, mead and wine (as well as soft drinks for those driving).

If over the years you’ve amassed too many games (is there such a thing?) that are now sitting on a shelf collecting dust, Chillcon will also have a bring and buy, with all proceeds going to this year’s chosen charity, .

Tickets for Chillcon start from £4.00 + booking fee and can be purchased in advance here.
